MIRA is an audio visual installation developed as part of the project “Águas Gémeas” (Twin Waters), focusing on issues of water management, sustainability and territorial resilience in Odemira, south of Portugal. The work is rooted on the river MIRA, specifically in the region of the Santa Clara dam. The project was developed over two periods of field work (2023/24) in the region of Santa Clara-a-Velha. The creative work is based on sonic, visual and ethnographic materials which aim to be of and for the region. The ambition of the work is that the listening, the looking and the being of the artist can somehow contribute to relationships with and on the territory. All this reflecting the many profound transformations of the last 60 years, affecting population, communities, environment, territorial politics and our relationship with water. 
The installation consists of two projection surfaces and immersive sound design. Technical infrastructure facilitated by SARC Mobile, co-production Miso Music Portugal and SARC: Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Sound and Music, Queen’s University Belfast.

MIRA é uma instalação audio visual no contexto do projeto Águas Gémeas”, projeto que incide sobre as problemáticas da água, da sustentabilidade e da resiliência territorial em Odemira, no sul de Portugal e que está centrado na bacia hidrográfica do rio Mira, na barragem de Stª Clara e no Perímetro de Rega do Mira. 

Desenvolvido a partir de dois períodos de recolha de campo da região de Santa Clara-a-Velha (2023/24), a criação trabalha elementos sonoros, visuais e etnográficos que acima de tudo pretendem ‘ser da’ e ‘ser para’ a região. A ambição é que o ouvir, o olhar e o estar do artista contribua de alguma forma para relações com e no território. Tudo isto refletindo tantas transformações profundas que nos últimos 60 anos afetaram populações, comunidades, ambiente, politicas de território e a nossa relação com a água. A instalação consiste de duas superficies de projeção visual com desenho sonoro imersivo. Infraestrutura técnica facilitada por SARC Mobile, co-produção Miso Music Portugal e SARC: Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Sound and Music, Queen’s University Belfast.
